Clean Water Act Case Against Washington Municipality Moves Forward
After Snake River Waterkeeper filed a 60-Day Notice of Intent to Sue the City of Garfield which alleged more than 1,500 Clean Water Act violations by its wastewater treatment plant totaling over $50 million in fines, a consent decree is being drafted that aims to ensure the town has the funding for personnel and mitigation to ensure future violations are prevented and damages from past violations are remediated.
