Waterkeepers submit letter to EPA

A broad coalition of Waterkeepers, including SRW, submitted a letter to Lee Zeldin, current head of the EPA, expressing our strong opposition to recent agency actions. Our concerns include:

• Withdrawal of the proposed rule setting effluent limitation guidelines and standards for some PFAS manufacturers.
• The “reconsideration” of wastewater regulations for certain industrial facilities.
• Limiting federal oversight of certain wetlands and smaller waterbodies.
• The termination of hundreds of EPA staff members.
• Closure of EPA’s Office of Environmental Justice and External Civil Rights.
• The freeze on federal funding for climate and clean energy programs.
